I came to Cancun to study tourism in 2005. After four tough but exciting years of school, I’m now a graduate and am starting out on my independent life here. I work at a travel agency and live with my dogs, Suki, Konan and Dolly, and my husband. Right now, I’m 25 years old and I’ve been married to my husband Jorge for a year!
This site is all about my day-to-day life in Cancun. You’ll find some pretty cool stuff, like my excursions around the Yucatan Peninsula, my fave places in Cancun, my experience renting in Cancun, tips on how to speak more like a Mexican, cultural observations, and my wedding.
I’m also proud to be a Community Manager for the Mexico Today program, which focuses on bringing positive news about Mexico to the forefront. Although I’m being compensated for my role in this program, all of the information shared here is my own opinion. Follow Mexico Today on Twitter at @MexicoToday or #MexicoToday, and on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/#!/MexicoToday

I have never been to Mexico- but when I do go, Cancun is my chosen destination! You must love it down there!
Wow – went down to study tourism and never left! Unreal! Thanks for posting on my blog!! Marriage is wonderful, but we have to throw in a few monkey wrenches to keep it happenin. Sooo excited for your upcoming wedding! How does your family feel about the fact that you’re staying put in Mexico???
Actually, during college I probably got to see my family more than if I’d studied in the States. We had pretty long breaks, so I would usually spend 2 or 3 months a year at home with my parents.
For now, the plan is to move back to the States (with new husband) in 2 or 3 years, so they’re not too bent out of shape about it! Thanks for sharing your experiences on your blog. It’s been a real eye-opener, not to mention all the laughs! I love the he-said she-said.
Intriguing! I have always wanted to live in another country. I am off to explore some of your stories. Glad I popped by from SITS 🙂
Hi – My husband and I just moved to Cancun for his job. I’m lovin’ your blog and would like to ask you a few questions if you have the time. Please email me if you get a chance. “Super Nintendo Part 2” – what a hoot!

Beautiful pic! My husband and I have been living in GDL since 2006. It’s been an adventure.
I simply love the fact that you live where you do, I read over some of your blog and I could almost picture myself living there, I think its great and I look forward to reading more, very nice indeed…
First off, you look lovely in your yellow dress, especially against a background of blue, green, grey, and white.
Wow still can’t believe you actually live in Cancun! Looking forward to reading about your excursions and any cultural observations you make:)
Hi, nice to meet you !
Just found your blog !! and I’m happy I did , Nice to meet you and I look forward to stopping by often. 🙂
Hola Gringa !
I am looking for a web site announcing live shows (music bands) in Cancun, do you have any ideas ? I will be there in 1 week, willing to see and ear musicians that rarely come to Quebec (Caifanes, Enantitos verdes, or more traditional).
Thanks !
Fred xx
I stumbled upon your blog today when I was looking for something more interesting then what my boss wanted me to do and I just wanted to say I LOVE IT! I am from a small town in New York and have been living in Cancun now for about 3 years. Its great to read something that I can relate to!
Can´t wait to see the next update!
Hello from New York! I just came across your blog from a search on ABC News on Cancun safety. I found myself looking back at all your entries as I was fascinated with everything you were saying. I found all your entries so interesting. I have not been back to Mexico since 99 and will be down next week with my husband.
Looking forward to your next update!
How hard was it for you to get citizinship there? I would love to move there as I travel there monthly for work. I work for a big tour operator and focus on Cancun/Riviera Maya. But I have always wanted to move there. I just have no clue how.
Photos of Suki, Konan and Dolly would be welcome. Mui bonito, I suspect.
Hi. Im moving to Cancun very soon and like others I have 1000 questions…Would like to be in contact with you.

me gusto muchisimo tu blog, le das un toque diferente a las experiencias vividas en esta zona de Mexico, congrats!!!!
Have you ever dealt with buying real estate or housing in Cancun? I’m curious to know how it differs from other parts of Mexico. I have looked into buying a home in western Mexico, but would really love to purchase a home in Cancun, I love that part of the country.
I’ve been following you for about four months now, and never seem to get bored with your posts. Since you have now lived in Mexico for over 5 years and have completely submerged yourself into the culture and language, do you find that you confuse or forget some of your English? My husband and I have found after only a year of living abroad we unintentionally substitute Spanish words in our sentences. So, it made me wonder about how different your own speech must have changed even more so after your time in Mexico.
You got a great blog. I have been reading it ever since I joined cancuncare forums a couple of years ago. I added it to my blog roll I hope you don’t mind. Keep up the great work.
