Cancun’s Party Center Spring Break 2011

25 Apr

Well, we did it. We went to a nightclub in the Hotel Zone during Spring Break, which is something I had NEVER done before! I used to go to the Hotel Zone every Friday and Saturday night, except during Spring Break.

Spring Break is winding down a bit, and this week is Mexico’s Semana Santa, when they have their vacations. It was a crazy mix of Mexican and American tourists, which made for a pretty fun atmosphere.

So Friday night, we headed down to Cancun’s Party Center.

We decided to go to our favorite spot, Congo. It’s an open air club that has a more casual atmosphere than some of the more upscale clubs. The ambiance was insanely good, but the service was womp womp… the waiter kept forgetting to bring my bottled water (yeah, I don’t drink much), and stopped waiting on tables entirely around 1 am. Other than that, no complaints!

They closed the bar pretty early at 4 am, which was a bit disappointing. (Most places in the Hotel Zone don’t close the bar until 5:30.)  So we got onto the bus back into downtown Cancun, and went to get some tacos. I’ve never gone to a club in the US, but here in Mexico it’s a tradition to go get tacos or tortas after a night at the club.

What are the nightclubs like where you live?

I could handle a taco tradition like that! 😉 Looks like fun, I’m too old I’m afraid and got sympathy hangover headache just looking at your photos…

Cancun has some awesome clubs! We have a few really awesome clubs in Mpls as well, but I usually only go to see live concerts, not for dancing

I’m so jealous looks like so much fun. I have been to clubs in the states but they are just not as much fun to me. They are way to much money to get in and the people are so rude and well lets just say for me it gets old quick. I remember going to a club in PV, Mexico and enjoying it soo much, the people and atmospere make all the difference. I love the taco tradition too. Back in the states it was Jack in the box, which was not too bad either! Here in La barca though there is only one club, which is not all that great, but hey at least I get to dance for awhile.

All we have around here are small town bars… but they fit their purpose.

P.S. I’m doing an accessories swap over at my blog today and I’d love for you to join in!

Gosh, I haven’t been to a nightclub since my bachelorette party. Now in my 30’s, I tend to stick with the upscale lounges and sip a glass of wine. Back in my 20’s, you could find me dancing on the bar. 😉

We never go to bars here in the US, but I sure love going to Congo! It is such a fun place. And we always stop for a taco after we’ve had a few to many SOL.

Looks like fun Laura! I too used to hit the Zone a lot but after La Boom closed down I barely go now except for special occasions. The clubs in Vancouver close down later in teh summer, around 4am, and teh rest of the year I’m not too sure as we usually only go to Vancouver in the summer.

That looks like so much fun Laura! I was braving Disney for break; not nearly as much fun as clubbing and tacos. 🙂

You really havent been to any clubs here? There really aren’t any “real” clubs right here where I live, but DC has some nice ones. I’ve been to just one (not counting the strip joint in Silver Spring) and it was pretty fabulous.

I don’t know how you guys get any work done out there with places like those. Party central is exactly what it looks like!
