*A few of my commenters mentioned yesterday that they’d never heard of Chabihau. It’s not really a spot for international tourists. However, many people who live in Merida own vacation houses there. So, if you’ve never lived near Merida, you’ve probably never heard of it! 🙂 Population is just under 400 people. My mother-in-law grew up there.*
Right after we went searching for flamingos in Chabihau, Jorge and I drove down the coast a little bit with his parents and his two little cousins, Naivi and Naomi.
We stopped by a pretty beach that was covered in tiny shells. Right across the road was the lagoon.
What’s your favorite trip you’ve made to the beach?
That’s awesome… so beautiful!
As long as there is sand, water and good food, any trip to the beach is a good one for me! Oh that sunset and those darling little girls!
Love that seashell covered beach. In Tulum onces I took a little cup and scooped some tiny shells up to take home. When I was peering in the cup everything started moving and I realized it was a bunch of tiny hermit crabs. I put them back where I found them. I was taught not to remove things from their home on the beach. Shows how much I follow directions 😉
You know, sometime in 2002 (i think) we came down to the Yucatan and stayed in Playa del Carmen. While we were there though, we took a trip out to a secluded beach called Punta Bete. There was a tiny little hotel run by two men who went by Negra and Blanca (yes, one black and one white guy, but the names were actually reversed – ha). We were the only people out there and it was the most memorable, relaxing day I’ve ever had at the beach. They went out and caught fresh fish to make fresh-as-shit ceviche for us while we were there and IT WAS FABULOUS. Best stuff I’ve ever had.
It makes me sad to think of what’s likely become of that place now…. most likely, a big huge resort sits there now. *sigh* I big puffy heart the Yucatan.
More great photos!! Celestun has pretty amazing beaches too!
My favorite beach trip is one that hasn’t happened yet…my honeymoon!
Love your photos. 🙂
I love beachcombing so I’d probably spend HOURS there, just picking up shells and stones and stuff!
GREAT photos! Little Mexican girls are the cutest in the world!
Okay, you seriously are living the DREAM. So amazing you have these gorgeous places so close by! And freaking real flamingos!!!! I get excited if I see a cardinal outside.
You don’t see that every day!
