Show Me Your Purse, Oldest Shoes and Pomanders!

14 May

Ok, here’s the first installment of the Show Me Your (fill-in-the-blank) series, which originally began at Luxe Chandelier:

Ang from Football, Sushi and the Pursuit of Happiness asked to see my purse and some of my must-have purse contents. I loooove my big purses because I am a compulsive over-packer. I like to carry with me anything I may possibly need throughout the day, because a girl never knows what surprises the day might have in store.

I bought this purse with part of my first paycheck eight months ago. It's Nine West, and probably the most expensive item of clothing I've ever owned. It's gray leather (??) and suede on the sides, and it goes with everything.

Must-haves: vanilla-scented travel tissues, sunglasses, 30-dollar cell phone, vanilla lipgloss, vanilla VS body spray, Mary Kay makeup case, Mary Kay brush kit, and Cover Girl foundation and powder

I will now introduce you to my secret weapon… my planner. It goes EVERYWHERE with me. It’s a personalized planner by Erin Condren.

Krysten over at After-I-Do asked to see my favorite thing in Cancun. She’ll have to wait, because I haven’t had a chance to catch a picture of it yet. 🙂 (I’m not sure going by request order is going to work!!)

MurdocksMama asked to see my oldest pair of shoes. Well, I didn’t want to embarrass myself too badly, so I placed them alongside my newest pair of shoes.

My high school gym class New Balances (8 years old), alongside my new Zingara sandals (can't live in Cancun without a few pairs of rockin sandals)

 There you have it. 🙂

I’m also posting the trial pomanders I made, which turned out GORGEOUS.

The one on the left was dyed in cinnamon tea, while the one on the right was dyed with Hibiscus tea with red and blue food coloring

Cute stuff!!! I call my purse a Mary Poppins purse…all kinds of weird things end up in it, haha! I need to change it out cuz It got soaked by a bottle of water the other day!

The pomanders turned out beautiful!! Good job!

    Your pomanders look FABULOUS!

The pomanders look great! We do them out of tissue paper up here 😉 Then you don’t have to dye them. Although they probably don’t have the same pretty rippled petals huh?

Cute sandals. Is Zingara online? I love them!

YAY! Thanks for sharing! This is so fun! Your purse is adorable & I’m looking into a planner like that too! Your sandals are adorable & your sneakers are in pretty good shape for being 8 years old!! 🙂

Tiff: Exactly! My friends all know if they need something, I will magically pull it out of my purse. We always make fun of my mom for carrying around measuring tape, but she uses it pretty often, surprisingly.

Ashlie: Thank you 🙂 I agree! The color came out even better than I’d envisioned.

Nikki: I thought about tissue paper, but it seemed so much easier (and maybe cheaper?) with the coffee filters. Dying paper is more fun than cutting it, for me. Zingara doesn’t sell online, but they do have a few stores in the States. Maybe you could call and see if they do mail order? They have adorable bathing suits, too. It’s usually a bit expensive, but they have great sales every few months. (my sandals went from $110 to $30.) http://www.zingaraswimwear.com/boutiques

MurdocksMama: Yeah, the planner is a life saver! The sneakers are in great shape because I hardly ever use them hahaha. For active days, I usually wear my Rainbow flip flops.

I LOVE the pomanders! They are perfect! I could never pull it off.

And I’m extremely impressed at your organizational skills. Do you have any extra to spare so that they might rub off on me?

Your pomanders are looking fantastic!! As for your purse, well…it would take 2 pages to reveal everything that is in my purse these days, LOL. I love your sandals too.

Wow- you’re really digging the vanilla, aren’t ya? 🙂 I JUST got rid of my high school gym shoes a WEEK ago, so I’m right there with you! Love the other shoes, by the way- super cute! And I don’t know what a pomander is…

    • gringation May 15, 2010 at 4:23 pm #

Haha I’m allergic to most perfumes. I’m pretty much stuck between choosing cocoanut, orange and vanilla. Vanilla wins 🙂 And how can I turn down vanilla-scented tissues????

Pomanders serve no real purpose… they’re just hanging decorations for my wedding.

Please do a Pomander tutorial! Those are amazing and I’d love to know how to make them!
